SAFE – Fit for the Future: Kick-off in Bruck an der Mur and Leoben

In autumn 2025, SAFE – Fit for the Future will begin with an interdisciplinary workshop in Eisenerz at the site of the planned Living Lab. Led by the Resources Innovation Center (RIC) at Montanuniversität Leoben, in partnership with Safety and Disaster Studies, the Institute of Soil Research at BOKU University, and BEST – Bioenergy and Sustainable Technologies GmbH, this meeting marks the project’s first milestone. Funding is provided by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).

The workshop will be professionally facilitated and bring together expertise in soil science, circular economy, communication, and education. Its goal is to share the current state of scientific knowledge while capturing the interests and needs of stakeholder groups.

In doing so, it lays the foundation for the potential creation of a Living Lab that connects research, education, and community participation.

This kick-off meeting lays the foundation for an open platform where research, education, and societal participation converge. SAFE positions itself as a pioneer of sustainable transformation! For further scientific background, see the article: SAFE – Fit for the Future.
